Our Favorite Valentines Day Recipes and Traditions
One of my favorite holidays is fast approaching. Valentine’s day is in just a few days and I wanted to share our favorite family traditions on this holiday.
- My husband gets something small for the girls while I get something small for our son. Usually, consist of a small stuffed animal and chocolates or flowers candy and maybe a balloon. Which I almost always just pick up at the dollar store. It always makes them feel really special.
- Then instead of going out as a couple, we do a special Valentine’s dinner. I decorate the table with candles and a nice table cloth. As well as the nice dishes. I make steak with bearnaise sauce crab legs with melted butter (this part never changes but the rest I change based on recipes I have loved or something that I am feeling like at the current time. It does always consist of a couple of sides and a dessert.
- Lastly, we will make little notes about why we love each other and what makes us each so special
I am sure the time will come that Valentine’s day turns back into a holiday that my husband and I just celebrate together, but right now while my kids are younger I love making it a holiday about our love for each other. Do you have any family traditions that you love to do? What are some things your family does for Valentine’s day?
Here are a few of my favorite recipes that I have made in the past.

We tend to lean towards either a berry or chocolate dessert, or maybe both some years 😊 And the majority of the recipes we love are from Melskitchencafe.com if you have not visited her site yet you are missing out. Her recipes are fantastic all the time! If you are a procrastinator and haven’t planned anything yet hopefully some of these recipes or ideas will get you started and I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine’s day whatever your traditions may be.
